Question: What is the Nature Conservancy of Canada?

Answer: The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is Canada’s leading national land conservation organization. A private, non-profit organization, we partner with individuals, corporations, foundations, Indigenous communities and other non-profit organizations and governments at all levels to protect our most important natural treasures — the natural areas that sustain Canada’s plants and wildlife. We secure properties (through donation, purchase, conservation agreement and the relinquishment of other legal interests in land) and manage them for the long term.

Question: What are symbolic adoptions?

Answer: NCC’s symbolic gifts represent species and habitats that benefit from conservation work. By symbolically adopting a Canadian species or habitat, you can help ensure our country’s natural spaces are protected for today and for future generations.

Question: How do symbolic gifts work?

Answer: Symbolic gifts represent the conservation efforts your gift supports. When you purchase these items, the proceeds go toward funding conservation projects and initiatives.

Question: How do you ensure transparency and accountability?

Answer: We regularly publish our financial reports detailing our income, expenses and how funds are allocated. We also maintain open communication with our supporters and provide updates on the progress of our projects.

Question: How do I place an order?

Answer: To place an order, simply browse through our Shop Gifts page, select the gift you desire and click on the Add to Cart button. Proceed to the checkout page, where you can review your order details and complete the purchase by providing your shipping and payment information.

Question: Can I receive a tax deduction for my purchases/donations?

Answer: You will automatically receive a tax receipt for income tax purposes when you make a donation of $10 or more. If you make your gift over the phone or by mail, your receipt will be sent through the postal service. If you donate online, you will receive your tax receipt by email.

Question: Is NCC a registered charity?

Answer: The Nature Conservancy of Canada is a registered charity. Our charitable registration number is 11924 6544 RR0001. Our legal name is The Nature Conservancy of Canada.

Question: Can I volunteer or get involved in other ways?

Answer: Absolutely! Visit natureconservancy.ca/en/what-you-can-do for information on volunteer opportunities, fundraising events and other ways to get involved. Your time and support are invaluable to our cause.

Question: What payment methods do you accept?

Answer: We accept all major credit cards, such as VISA, including VISA Debit and MasterCard. At this time, we do not accept Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. We are working to make additional payment options available to you.

Question: Do you offer international shipping?

Answer: No, shipping is currently only available within Canada.

Question: How long will it take for my order to be delivered?

Answer: Digital packages will be delivered by email on the date of purchase. For physical packages, you will receive a shipping confirmation email when your order is sent; please allow one to two weeks for delivery from the date you receive the email.

Question: What do I do if I didn’t receive or lost my tax receipt?

Question: What if I want to order multiple gifts to different recipient addresses?

Answer: At this time, it is not possible to order physical gifts with multiple shipping addresses. If you would like to send physical symbolic adoption gifts to multiple addresses, a separate checkout will be required for each address.

Question: What if I want to order multiple gifts in different languages (French and English)?

Answer: At this time, it is not possible to order gifts in multiple languages within the same order. If you would like to purchase gifts in more than one language, a separate checkout will be required for each language.

Question: Can I order a symbolic adoption by mail?

Answer: No, we are not able to process symbolic adoption donations by mail. Please do not mail in your symbolic adoption order, if you do we cannot guarantee that it will be fulfilled. If you would like to make your gift over the phone please contact Supporter Services at 1.800.465.8005, please note a credit card and email address is required.

Question: Can I order a symbolic adoption over the phone?

Answer: Yes, please call Supporter Services at 1.800.465.8005, an email address and credit card is required to place make a donation over the phone.
